All in for Aftyn: What Investment and Energy Does in a “Safe Red” District

Over the weekend, I traveled from Knoxville to Nashville to knock doors for Aftyn Behn, Democratic nominee for the special election in TN-07. On the drive over, I saw the news that the House Democratic super PAC was putting $1 million into this race.

That came days after former VP Harris stopped by during her book tour to campaign for this election, and a few weeks after DNC Chair Martin came to Middle Tennessee in what has been widely seen as a Republican stronghold.

National news everywhere are running pieces on Tennessee, and simultaneously folks from around the country (and even some around the world) are online, calling attention to this very special special election.

As a reminder: this is a district drawn to be red that Trump won by 22 points last year.

Tennessee may not be used to the national spotlight and investment – but make no mistake, people have been putting in the work here for years, and we are ready.

This isn’t supposed to be a competitive district. This isn’t supposed to be a race that everyone is watching.

But it is. This is what is possible when you run everywhere and you don’t take any district for granted.

The other part of this equation?

When you run everywhere AND give Democratic nominees the resources they need to run, the GOP has to spread out their resources. It means they can’t just take elections (and voters) for granted. We can do this throughout the rest of the state, friends. We can invest in every corner of “ruby-red” Tennessee and make sure that Democratic nominees are supported and that voters have a choice.

And that is why we exist.

We’re glad you’re here with us, because Tennessee shouldn’t be taken for granted. It should be invested in as a state that is worthy of time, hope, and resources. If you believe that, too, I hope you’ll join us as a monthly sustaining member

What else you should know in Tennessee this week:
➡️ Early voting for TN-07 goes through November 26th and election day is December 2nd. No matter where you live, you can volunteer for Aftyn for Congress.
➡️ Tennessee parents have sued the state over the universal voucher program scheme. They argue that it violates the state constitution by diverting public funds to private schools that lack accountability and can discriminate against students.
➡️ ICE’s latest focus in Tennessee are traffic courts, where they’re detaining immigrants coming in to pay routine traffic tickets.
Are you ready to keep the momentum going and fund Democrats running for state legislature in every corner of our state?
Let’s Do This!
